Friendly rivalry.

Legend has it that a very long time ago there was a rivalry between young chiefs of Moloka‘i and Maui. A dispute over the cliffs of their respective islands. Which were steeper, more beautiful, more challenging? A climbing wager was made at the scene of this humble Maui rock and the visiting ali‘i lost. Rather than take his life, the Maui chief forgave his vanity. A friendship was born and the rocks became forever known as “Pōhaku O Kā‘anapali”.

I can't point to a single characteristic - not sharp or espresso-ish, and more character and flavor than some medium-roasts.
